We have had the privilege of working with the iconic Housmans Bookshop in King’s Cross, London, over several years. Initially, we were engaged as architects to design a new additional floor at the top of the building, providing much-needed extra office space. The project enhanced the functionality of the historic building while respecting its character and heritage.

Following the success of this initial phase, we were asked to provide design services for extensive basement works. This phase involved transforming the basement into a new shop floor space known as the ‘Vaults’ bookshop. The design complements the historic nature of the building and the organisation, creating a welcoming and functional environment for customers while honouring the bookshop’s storied legacy.
